At Viox & Viox, we’re proud to play a part in initiatives that leave a lasting impact on communities near and far. This year, we joined forces with Paul Hemmer Company and a network of partners to support the Construction for a Cause Initiative, an effort dedicated to using construction expertise to bring meaningful change.
For the 2024 initiative, the focus was on education—building the Nakabaran Classroom in Kakuma, Kenya. In partnership with The Ed Colina Foundation, this new schoolhouse now offers children in the region an invaluable opportunity: access to education. This project wasn’t just about constructing a building; it was about opening doors. For many children in Kakuma, the Nakabaran Classroom represents a chance to learn, dream, and shape a brighter future.
A Unique Approach to Giving Back
Construction for a Cause operates differently from traditional fundraising efforts. Organized by Paul Hemmer Company, the initiative treats each project like any other professional construction project. The key difference? Instead of bidding for contracts, subcontractors and partners contribute through donations. This innovative approach brought together an incredible team of companies, all united by a shared commitment to making a difference.
Our Role and Appreciation
Viox & Viox is honored to have been part of this effort alongside other outstanding organizations. We extend a heartfelt thank-you to Paul Hemmer Company, whose vision and leadership made this possible, and to Matt Curtin, who organized and guided the initiative with passion and purpose. It’s inspiring to see how collaboration can create tangible change in the world.
Why It Matters
Education is a cornerstone of opportunity. For the children of Kakuma, the Nakabaran Classroom isn’t just a schoolhouse; it’s a beacon of hope. It represents a chance to learn, grow, and build a foundation for success. At Viox & Viox, we value opportunities to contribute to initiatives that align with our mission of creating positive change through collaboration and innovation. Being part of the Construction for a Cause Initiative reminds us of the impact we can have when we work together. As we reflect on this project, we’re reminded of the power of partnership and the importance of giving back. We look forward to continuing to support initiatives that make a difference, both locally and globally.
