This past weekend, the Viox & Viox team was honored to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for Walton-Verona Intermediate School. As a firm committed to shaping communities through thoughtful engineering and design, we are proud to have played a role in bringing this much-needed educational facility to life.
Meeting a Growing Need
As Link NKY stated, the Walton-Verona School District has experienced rapid growth, with elementary school enrollment reaching 730 students—38% of the district’s total. Projections estimate that the student population will continue increasing at a rate of 3.4% annually, with over 3,000 students expected within the next 15 years. To accommodate this growth, the district approved the new Intermediate School, which houses 4th and 5th graders and alleviates overcrowding in elementary classrooms.
Our Role in the Project
Viox & Viox provided comprehensive civil engineering services for the development of the school and surrounding site. Our scope of work included:
- Site design and grading
- Stormwater detention and water quality management
- Sanitary sewer and water service extensions
- Erosion control measures
- Coordination with stakeholders, including REH&A Architects and other consultants
- Design of parking lots, bus loops, and driveway connections
These critical infrastructure elements ensure not only a functional and accessible school site but also long-term sustainability and efficiency.
Designed for the Future
The Walton-Verona Intermediate School was designed with flexibility in mind. As the district grows, the school can be expanded to meet increasing demands. Future phases of development could even see the site transition into a new Walton-Verona High School, providing a long-term solution for the district’s evolving needs.
