Viox & Viox is proud to have partnered with Bakery Express Midwest to bring their new $20 million commercial bakery facility to life in Florence, Kentucky. This significant project marks a key milestone in Wawa’s expansion into the Midwest, providing fresh baked goods to its growing network of convenience stores.

Our team played a crucial role in the project’s development, offering a comprehensive range of services. From the initial due diligence phase—reviewing site utility availability, zoning requirements, and potential site limitations—to conducting a topographic survey and developing a preliminary site plan, we ensured that every detail was accounted for. The design process included site layout planning, grading, stormwater management, and erosion control, ensuring compliance with local regulations and environmental standards.

Collaboration was key in this project. Viox & Viox worked closely with local authorities, including the Boone County Planning Commission and Sanitation District No. 1, to secure the necessary permits and approvals. Our responsibilities extended to preparing a detailed planting plan per Boone County Zoning Regulations and coordinating with utility providers to finalize service connections.

Throughout construction, we remained engaged, providing ongoing site visits, shop drawing reviews, and addressing RFIs to ensure smooth execution. The final phase included the preparation of an as-built site plan and storm sewer documentation to meet all regulatory requirements.

Bakery Express Midwest’s new 50,000-square-foot facility will soon be producing up to 150,000 treats daily, employing 175 full-time workers, and playing a vital role in supplying Wawa stores across the region. Viox & Viox is honored to have contributed to this exciting development, supporting economic growth and new business opportunities in Northern Kentucky.
